COVID-19 Booking Policies

We are delighted to announce that the huts are open to public use!

These huts are currently open: Broome Hut; Continental Divide and Point Breeze Cabins; Polar Star Inn and Seipel Hut; and Shrine Mountain Inn.

We understand that your expectations of the hut experience have likely changed given the COVID-19 situation and we have made changes to improve the experience. Significant changes include:

  1. Hut reservations for this summer are single-party only. For larger-capacity huts, costs have been reduced in order to provide a financial incentive to have fewer people at the hut.
  2. Hut visitors are required to follow protocols on social distancing, use of face masks, handwashing, and cleaning/disinfecting the hut. 10th Mountain unequivocally supports these protocols.
  3. Discrete sleeping areas can be shared only by household members. Each hut typically has multiple discrete sleeping areas.

The ability to open additional huts depends on individual compliance with these requirements. Additional huts are scheduled to open July 1st.

Below is summary of the booking policies for the huts we plan to have open for the summer, as well as information about hut-user expectations for social distancing and cleaning the the hut during their trip.

COVID-19 Summer Booking Policies

Public Health Orders and Hut User Expectations

The huts are open to public use only because local public health agencies have developed special considerations for lodging with shared quarters such as huts. 10th Mountain unequivocally supports these public health orders.

Hut visitors are required to follow these orders.

KITCHEN AND OTHER COMMON OR SHARED AREAS

Many individuals can be asymptomatic and still spread the virus.

SLEEPING AREAS

Sleeping in enclosed spaces increases the contact and exposure time that enables spread of COVID-19.

CLEANING AND DISINFECTING THE HUT

Hut visitors are expected to follow local and state protocols for social distancing and use of face masks, and are expected to clean and disinfect surfaces frequently touched upon arrival, regularly while at the hut, and upon departure. Below is a link to a hut cleaning checklist for hut users. 10th Mountain staff, who typically visit the huts once per week, use this same checklist and the same cleaning and disinfecting products.

Below are additional links to individual county health pages that outline each counties public health orders.
